2010 Olympics seeks Métis business owners and artisans

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has identified a need to incorporate the Aboriginal communities within its economic development strategy. This strategy has been developed through a procurement policy that encourages Aboriginal businesses to bid on contracts and activities hosted directly through VANOC.

It is, the intent of this communiqué to encourage our Métis artisans and performers to access the opportunity to showcase and perform at the upcoming Cultural Olympiad. The MNBC believes that this is an essential activity in developing a strong Métis cultural presence during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Métis Traditional Land Use Study & Métis Consultation on Alberta’s Industrial Heartland

The Métis Nation of Alberta is studying its peoples’ cultural and traditional land use knowledge to help strengthen our Aboriginal rights.

‘Upgrader Alley’ projects in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland require consultation with the Métis community.

Therfore, the MNA needs input from its members on a new Métis Consultation Policy.

The MNA Zones 2 & 4 welcome its members to come share their knowledge of the Heartland area and learn more about these initiatives.  Please join us.
