	Your help is needed in finding Métis history Does your family have any history at or involving Buffalo Lake and the communities throughout the West connected to this area? Region 3 is having a study done by professional Métis historians on the History of the Métis of Buffalo Lake, Alberta which was a part of the Buffalo Hunt Era of Métis history. Dr. Heather Devine of the University of Calgary and her associate, Margaret Clarke are in the process of conducting a historical research study which will fully describe the history of the Métis people of Buffalo Lake in Central Alberta. In the 1800s the Métis had several “Wintering Sites” or “Hivernant Villages” (Buffalo Lake, Boss Hill, Tail Creek and Grande Pointe) all around Buffalo Lake which were on travel routes to and from other communities in what is now Alberta and Saskatchewan (and beyond). If your family has any historic connection to this area, we would like to put you in contact with our Métis historians to record this important information.
